Fundamental Makeup Technique MA1 70 clock hours
This class builds a strong foundation in the basic techniques of beauty makeup artistry. Short lectures, video presentations, and live demonstrations are followed by guided practice emphasizing the individual elements of makeup application, important factors to learn before taking any of our more advanced makeup classes. This course is recommended for beginners and artists who have worked as a counter salesperson and lack technical training from professional makeup artist schools. The curriculum includes:

Airbrush Makeup & Tanning MA3 14 clock hours
Airbrushing make-up is the preferred technique for digital photography and HDTV (high definition television). Those specializing in print-work, fashion, and bridal makeup need to master this skill, which isn't yet taught at most make up schools. Airbrushing provides a camera-ready velvety texture in a quarter of the time it takes to do traditional makeup application. This class covers basic application (including eye makeup, blush, and lip color) and airbrush tanning.

High Fashion Photographic Makeup MA4 21 clock hours
This course is an introduction to makeup for print work and runway. Students learn the looks of ‘Clean Beauty’, ‘Glamour’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘High Fashion’ as they experience what it is like to work closely with photographers and models on photo shoots, music videos, and runway shows. Video presentations and demonstrations bring the various techniques to life. Students learn the skills necessary to do fashion editorial spreads, commercial advertising, and catalog layouts. Students participate in a professional photo shoot and receive a CD of their work.

Intro to Make-up for Film & Television MA5 28 clock hours
This course introduces students to the fundamental skills necessary to work in television and film, music videos, commercials, daytime television, sitcoms, news and films. Different styles of makeup, terminology, pre-production responsibilities, the actual shoot day, tools of the trade, and special effects are all included. The course culminates with a creative project. For those who are serious professionals and decide to pursue a career in film and television, Character Makeup in the Production Makeup Artistry Program provides the in-depth training needed, including the type of techniques you would expect to learn at a special effects makeup school.

Professionalism: Marketing Yourself MA6 7 clock hours
A thorough critique of each individual’s skills and career goals prepares each student to enter the job market as a professional makeup artist.

Makeup for Print, Music Video, Runway & Stage MA7 105 clock hours
This course is staged in a different atmosphere. Students now comprise a creative team; they work with designers, models, creative directors and photographers. This course covers the tech­niques used for print advertising, catalog layouts, fashion editorial work, music videos, runway shows, black & white photography, HDTV, and the stage. They learn how to plan, design, and execute successful advertising campaigns and magazine editorial spreads ranging from com­mercial ‘clean beauty’ to high fashion ‘glam’ and fantasy makeup. Student’s work is critiqued on camera and captured in six photo shoots:1) a Commercial Catalog Ad, 2) a High Fashion Magazine Layout, 3) a Music Video CD Cover, 4) a Cirque du Soleil Makeup for Stage, 5) a 1940’s Vintage Fashion Look, 6) an Avant-garde Art Piece.

Hairstyling for Production Makeup Artists MA9 35 clock hours
Production makeup artists must be able to style hair. The Hairstyling for Production course teaches hair styling techniques for commercial, editorial, and fashion work. Fundamentals of hairstyling, from basic blow-drying to intricate braids and up-dos will prepare you for production work as a make-up artist/stylist. Students explore period and fantasy looks, and capture their work in a high fashion fantasy photo shoot. This course is not intended to be a Cosmetology Course.

Body Art Airbrushing MA10 21 Clock Hours
Many artists work professionally as body painters. They work frequently in television com­mercials, print advertising, special events, and in films, especially in science fiction. The Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in recent years has featured a section of models at­tired in renditions of swimsuits or sports jerseys that were body painted. This course teaches different airbrushing techniques of body painting, including body contouring, lingerie, tribal art, super heroes, and painting on clothes.

Fashion Portfolio Building MA11 14 Clock Hours
Each student works as a ‘make-up artist/stylist’ on a fashion shoot collaborating with a professional photographer and models. Student’s responsibilities include research, design, make-up, hair and wardrobe styling. The focus is on editorial style, beauty and trendy and bazaar fashion looks. Each student works as both a lead artist and an assistant. The result is the beginning a strong diversified fashion portfolio showcasing each artist’s talent. Upon graduation, students receive a CD of all of their work and may purchase a Portfolio Package of color corrected & enhanced images in a 10” X 12” professional portfolio. The business side of makeup artistry is covered: preparing for interviews, creating business cards and a winning resume, building a diversified portfolio, creating comp cards, and prepare for interviews with Photographers, Agencies and Production Companies.

Character Make-up for Film & TV MA12 175 clock hours
Special FX training is necessary for those who wish to work in the theater, film & television industries. A makeup artist’s job is to help create characters from all time periods in every walk of life in any circumstance. This course teaches the necessary skills to transform actors into whatever the script requires. Students learn many elements of special makeup effects and how to break down a script, plan the makeup prior to the shooting of scenes, and ensure accurate continuity.
