The Jay Cannistraci Scholarship for Production Makeup Artistry
A cherished friend and a film industry legend has passed on. On September 15, 2011, Jay Cannistraci lost his courageous battle with cancer.
Jay launched his career as a premiere Make Up artist with such films as Goodbye Columbus in 1969 and never ceased working. From the 80’s iconic TV series Miami Vice to the 2006 Miami Vice feature, with the films of such directors as Woody Allen, Oliver Stone and James Cameron sandwiched in between, Jay contributed to over 100 movies and TV episodes.
Most recently, he was one of Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry’s Film & TV instructors and was instrumental in helping build the school into what it is today. His family, friends, faculty, and students will miss him. He was a great inspiration to all of us.
Cosmix is pleased to announce a scholarship in his honor that will be awarded annually to an individual who has the passion and dedication to pursue a career as a professional makeup artist in film and television and qualifies for enrollment.
The scholarship provides entry to the Production Makeup Artistry Program including full tuition and material fees and is awarded annually to an individual who shares the passion that fueled Jay Cannistraci in his successful career.
