makeup-show1We welcome students from around the world!

Our #1 requirement is that you have strong desire to become a professional make-up artist and willingness to work hard and adhere to high standards. We recommend a visit to our school to tour the facility, see classes in session, speak to other students, meet faculty members, and meet with a financial aid advisor.

Cosmix was founded in 1997 to meet the growing demand for professional make up schools. The school’s founding philosophy was a commitment to educational excellence and began by assembling a staff of exceptional makeup artists.

We are not a cosmetology or beauty school, or a retail company. There are thousands of those and only a handful of specialized schools for makeup artistry in the country. We are the only licensed School of Makeup Artistry in Florida. We are a post-secondary technical institution licensed by the Florida Department of Education and accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). The ACCSC is a recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education.Financial Assistance is available for those who qualify.

We provide training in makeup artistry in all the different modalities- beauty, fashion, film, television, stage, and special effects. In an ever-growing, constantly evolving industry, our faculty are all accomplished artisans actively working.

Cosmix is approved to issue I-20 student visas to qualified candidates. It is our mission to create highly technically trained artists to work in various careers in the beauty, fashion, and entertainment industries. By providing the finest makeup artistry training, we qualify makeup artists for jobs ranging from simple beauty to the more complex artistry of special effects. We are committed to the evolution of every artist’s individual style and the creation of well-rounded makeup artists who excel in their chosen specialty.

I’m 13 and I have a passion for SFX makeup. I have a professional kit at home that I use all the time. I try to practice as much as possible and my parents bought it for me because of how passionate I am about this profession. We aren’t the richest people, but I would love to do the 6 month master makeup artistry class, so I was just wondering how much that would cost. Thanks a lot.

I am a senior beautician in UK fully qualified in level 2 beauty. I am looking to become a special effects makeup artist as thats where my passion lays. I have a fine arts highshool diploma, a NVQ level 3(UK standard) in teaching diploma, I have a VTCT (UK standard) level 2 as a nail tech, a 8 yrs experience as a spray tan therapist and recently I have finished my VTCT level 2( UK) in Beauty. Is having a high school diploma a must?

  12. Torrie Nally says:

I’m a Senior in High School and I’ve recently been looking for some good Special Effects / Cosmetology schools to possibly attend. I graduate in May and will be 18 in June, looking at past comments I saw that those were some requirements. However, I come from a low income family and until now I never really thought any type of secondary school would be financially possible, Is there any financial aid or assistance that is offered? Since about 2-3 years ago, SPFX makeup has been an interest of mine and I recently started doing some SPFX work. I’ve done makeup for some school activities, such as class projects and student short films. Where do you suggest I start to get into the SPFX industry? I really want a secondary school to be my next big step.

My son is in his Jr year of high school at Mississippi School of the Arts. He has been doing special effects makeup for a bit over a year now and has even done some work for a small independent film being filmed in New Orleans. He has done the footwork on some schools that he would be interested in upon completion of high school and you were one of his choices. I’ve been reviewing your site and my question to you is would he be required to take the general makeup course or can he specifically enroll in your special effects curriculum.

    • Hi Anita,

He can just enroll in the SPFX class and does not need to enroll in the Fashion course. However, he may be interested in the character class: Makeup for film and television in addition to SPFX.
Give me a call at the school if you have any other questions.

My name is Yesenia and I am currently looking for make up artistry courses. Since the age of 13 I’ve been caught red handed applying makeup on myself behind my mothers back haha, I have been told by my mother and many other sources that I should peruse a career in the make up artistry world, and honestly I think my time has come. I want to learn more than just the basic little things I think I may know. My dream is to love what I do and this is what I LOVE. Currently, I do not own a car but am willing to find a way to your school. I have a feeling this school will put me on the path I need to be on.
You may contact me via email or phone.
    Thank you,
    Yesenia xoxo

I’m very much interested in becoming a makeup artist and studying at your institution. So, my question to you is, if I complete the acceptance process including student visa, etc. ,between the months of October – November, 2013, can the same information be saved and used in March – April 2014? As this is when I would be able to start the individual classes.

Alexandria -You sound like you have the passion to be a top artist! If you are willing to work hard, the sky is the limit. There are very few accredited vocational schools that focus solely on makeup artistry. Many of our graduates have gone on to work on films, become a member of the IATSE (Makeup Artist Union), work on episodic television or newscasts, work with models, photographers doing print work. Micki our Admission’s Diretor can answer your questions. I will forward this to her…Hope to meet you soon, Kathleen School Director
